Video shared by Base Africa TV on X shows smoke billowing from the upper levels. Firefighters are using ground and elevated platforms to direct water onto the flames. Bystanders are watching from a distance.
Officials from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) and the Takoradi Port Fire Brigade are at the scene. They are working to control the blaze and prevent further spread. Multiple fire tenders and firefighters are deployed, battling thick black smoke.
The building, painted in blue, pink, and white, has suffered significant damage to its upper floors.
