Ghanaian journalist Awisi Dede has shared more information about the arrest of four Ghanaians. They have been charged in the High Court in Accra. The charges relate to an alleged plot to export four tonnes of cocaine from Ghana to France.
On September 16, 2026, Dede posted details on social media. She revealed conversations and statements made by the suspects during investigations. The four suspects are currently in custody.
Desmond Koranteng Curiel and Jessica Hartog were arrested at Ashale Botwe. Desmond is identified as a businessman, while Jessica is his fiancée. Kweku Otchere was arrested at his home in East Legon. A search after their arrests reportedly uncovered three guns, four luxury vehicles, passports, ammunition, and various sums of money.
Musah Attah was arrested on September 14, 2026, at the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) headquarters. A fifth suspect, Dutch national Jos Leijdekkers, also known as “Bolle Jos,” remains at large.
Dede reported that Desmond Koranteng Curiel claimed he operates several businesses. He denied any involvement with narcotic drug shipments. Musah Attah stated he is a friend of Desmond but does not conduct business with him.
Kweku Otchere described himself as a long-time friend of Desmond. He mentioned working on construction for Desmond’s apartments at Tse Addo. Jessica Hartog said she is only Desmond’s fiancée and knows little about his businesses.
The suspects were arraigned before the High Court on September 16, 2026. They face two charges: conspiracy to commit a crime and exportation of narcotic drugs without a license issued by the Minister of Health.
The charges were filed that same day, leading to their arraignment shortly afterward. The suspects have been remanded in custody for four weeks and will return to court on October 13, 2026.
