Taskforce Shuts Down Makeshift School Under Atomic Junction Overpass

A taskforce from the Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly dismantled unauthorized structures at Atomic Roundabout. This occurred during a decongestion exercise aimed at clearing squatters and hawkers. During their work, they discovered a makeshift school operating under the overpass.

Children were seated behind tables with books in front of them. A video shared by Citi FM showed the classroom setup as officials arrived. Some children appeared confused and attempted to flee but were called back for safety.

The woman believed to be running the school was questioned by officials. The video also depicted hawkers being asked to leave while the taskforce cleared food stalls and dismantled furniture. This exercise is part of efforts to decongest the area and remove unauthorized structures.

The video has sparked reactions from Ghanaians. Many questioned how long the makeshift school had been operating unnoticed, given the potential dangers of its location.
