Sylvester Tetteh, former MP for Bortianor-Ngleshie Amanfro, criticized Professor Ransford Gyampo. Gyampo is the CEO of the Ghana Shippers’ Authority. Tetteh accused him of being overly critical of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He suggested that Gyampo’s government benefits influenced his remarks.
Tetteh made these comments during an interview on Asempa FM on October 7, 2026. This was in response to Gyampo’s assessment of the NPP after its recent elections in Kumasi. Gyampo had posted on social media about the NPP’s internal elections. He argued that the results showed no change or remorse from the party after its defeat in 2024.
Gyampo stated that political arrogance prevented the NPP from hearing Ghanaians’ concerns. He claimed that the party was facing an identity crisis, contrasting it with its previous elite status. Tetteh disagreed with this view and defended the NPP’s identity.
He emphasized that inclusiveness is a key strength of the NPP. According to Tetteh, the party accommodates people from various backgrounds. He asserted that they do not rely solely on elites for governance or politics.
Tetteh highlighted the inclusion of persons with disabilities as evidence of broad participation within the party. He challenged Gyampo to compare NPP’s inclusiveness with that of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He referenced NDC politician Sofo Azorka and compared him to Kojo Bamba, who became NPP’s First Vice Chairman. Tetteh questioned who was more educated between them and noted Azorka’s absence during campaign tours despite his online presence.
