The La Traditional Council has called for proper engagement in redevelopment. They want traditional landowners involved in any activities on the former La Pleasure Beach Resort site. This demand follows the recent demolition of structures at the resort.
The demolition occurred last Friday without formal consultation with traditional authorities. Nii Adjei Koofeh IV, the La Shikitele, addressed this issue during a press briefing in Accra. He stated that the Council was not informed or involved in the decision to demolish.
The Council learned about the planned demolition on September 16. Members of the Coalition of La Associations (COLA) and resort management attended a meeting that day.
