Black Stars Coach Search Committee’s Tenure Extended to November

Black Stars Coach Search Committee's Tenure Extended to November

The Black Stars Coach Search Committee will continue its work until November 2026. The Ghana Football Association (GFA) extended the recruitment timeline for the next head coach. This committee was established by the GFA in consultation with the Ministry of Sports and Recreation.

Initially, the committee was expected to submit recommendations by October 9. This followed Carlos Queiroz’s departure on October 1. However, on October 9, the GFA announced a structured recruitment process.

This process aims to identify the best candidate for the senior national team. Evaluation, interviewing, and shortlisting of candidates will occur throughout October and November. A final recommendation will be submitted after this period.

The committee will conduct background checks and consult key football stakeholders. They will also assess applicants based on technical, leadership, cultural, and high-performance criteria. Fred Pappoe chairs this five-member committee.

Other members include Stephen Appiah, Anthony Baffoe, Agbesi Dzakpasu, and Faisal Chibsah. The recruitment follows Ghana’s poor start in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Defeats to Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia left the Black Stars at the bottom of Group C without points.

An interim technical team will manage the team during November’s international window. The GFA states that this extended process aims to secure a coach for long-term success in Ghana football.
